Oracle Direct Hosts 4th Annual Charity Golf Event

Posted by

The annual Oracle Direct Charity event has experienced amazing growth since its inception 4 years. This year the event included 175 golfers, 100 bean baggers and north of 100 volunteers – what an incredible show of support! The golf event raised over $100k for a very worthy cause.

Each year, the committee carefully considers charities in the Twin Cities and selects a charity where their contribution can have a significant impact on that organization’s goals. This year, after meeting with the Minneapolis Outreach team, they were touched to the inner core with the strength and commitment the workers have for their fellow homeless Minnesotans and the endless lives they have changed. This year’s worthy recipient was St. Stephen’s Human Services. To understand more, please visit:

Thank you Oracle for giving back to your community.

Campus Solutions 9.2 Release Is Coming Soon

Posted by

As Vice President of Talent Acquisition for MIPRO Consulting, I spend most of my days talking directly to experienced PeopleSoft consultants about trends in the market. A common theme lately among Technical Architects and Upgrade Specialists has been the increased preparation and activity around the upcoming Campus Solutions 9.2 release. The release promises to deliver a simpler, more productive user experience.

Higher Education clients are being proactive about lining up experienced Upgraders and having them ready to deploy when 9.2 is released. The Campus Solutions 9.2 release is being viewed as a major event within the Higher Education Users Group, since this will be the first new release for Campus Solutions in quite some time.

In the FAQ for Alliance 2015 document, Oracle explains the importance of this release along with some other pertinent information. Campus Solutions 9.2 is yet another example of Oracle’s commitment to their PeopleSoft product line. Keep an eye out for the 9.2 release date! This will be driving a lot of activity in the very near future.

PeopleSoft Conferences: Getting the Most Value for Your Money

Posted by

MIPRO Consulting has been a PeopleSoft consulting services provider for over 10 years. In my role as the VP of Alliances for MIPRO, I have the privilege of attending many of the events that are hosted by Oracle and also those hosted by their customer user groups. You know which ones there are – Oracle sponsored events such as the behemoth OpenWorld, industry-specific (e.g. Alliance for Higher Education and HIUG for Healthcare), and product-line specific (e.g. HCM World). Like most organizations, each year we have more options for events than we can attend and each year it has become more difficult to decide how to optimize both our money and our time. So which ones do I go to if I am a PeopleSoft customer? How are they different?

My observation is that the events or shows that are put on by Oracle have morphed into “all Cloud, all of the time, right now” events. These events are important to help you understand Oracle’s direction and their vision of the future. But if you go past the surface and dig deep, you will find that Oracle remains very committed to their longtime customers like the PeopleSoft customer base. And this is evident in the substantial investment for the recent innovations made to the PeopleSoft product, including things like PUM and the Fluid User Interface.

The events that are put on by the organizations that represent the customer user groups are very different. If you are a PeopleSoft customer and you attend Alliance for Higher Education or HIUG (Interact for Healthcare organizations,) the vibe is much different from the Oracle-sponsored “Cloud” events. You have the opportunity to connect with other PeopleSoft customers and attend breakout sessions led by customers, consulting firms, and Oracle. It is all PeopleSoft, all the time.

That’s my 2 cents… hope it helps as you decide how to help your organization make the most out of its dollars!

Join MIPRO Consulting at Oracle OpenWorld 2014 in San Francisco, September 29 – October 2, 2014

Oracle OpenWorld provides an unparalleled opportunity to network with peers, get close to product development teams, and gain valuable insight into the future direction of Oracle technologies. This year’s event will feature more than 1,700 sessions, keynotes from the world’s technology leaders, hands-on labs, several special networking events, and more.

There’s no other conference where you’ll have the opportunity to learn more key information about current (and future) Oracle products and technologies. You’ll have access to experts from around the world: customers, partners, and key Oracle team members.  You’ll be able to join Oracle technology demos run by the experts who helped build the products, and get hands-on in labs where you can dig into the details. Engineering, product management, executive presence – it’s all there.

MIPRO Consulting’s Managing Partner and CFO Bernadette Sprawka will be presenting at Oracle HCM Central.  Her session, ID # CON5542 entitled “MiPro Enterprises’ Transition from Workday to Oracle HCM Cloud” will provide an overview of MiPro Enterprise’s transition to the HCM Cloud, including our vetting process and why we ultimately chose Oracle’s HCM Cloud over other solutions.

We invite you to stop by and meet the MIPRO Team at booth 3554.  We’ll be more than happy to discuss your project – whether your needs be centered on PeopleSoft or Oracle’s suite of Cloud Applications.

oracle openworld 2014

OpenWorld is a bright, loud, stimulus-overload week of all things Oracle. We find tremendous value in the conference, and most of our clients and consulting partners do too. No other conference allows us to sit down and talk to our customers, discuss the latest in PeopleSoft 9.2 and PeopleTools 8.54, and see Oracle’s latest-and-greatest projects.

If you’re going to Oracle OpenWorld at the end of this month and you have a PeopleSoft focus, this document will be extremely useful to you. It will help you find the SIG meetings, presentation sessions, user group meetups and demos that are useful to you and your organization. Bookmark it, throw it in Evernote or Dropbox, whatever. It really helps with your conference planning if you’re going to see what’s happening with PeopleSoft.

MIPRO Kickstarts 2014 with Two Conferences: Oracle HCM World and Oracle Value Chain Summit

Posted by

The Oracle community was buzzing in early February, kicking off 2014 with two key conferences occurring simultaneously. MIPRO Consulting was able to divide and conquer, with a major presence at Oracle’s inaugural HCM World in Las Vegas and at the second annual Oracle Value Chain Summit in San Jose, Calif.

HR leaders from around the country gathered at Oracle HCM World from February 4-6 for two and a half days of strategic knowledge sharing on meeting the challenges of Human Resources in a more mobile and social world. Modern HR was the theme of the conference and speakers, including the CIO of Siemens presenting how they are addressing the new Human Capital Management paradigms facing all organizations. Oracle President Mark Hurd opened the show, with CEO Larry Ellison delivering the closing keynote to wrap things up. This impressive bookend is extremely rare, and Hurd commented that the showing was a demonstration of Oracle’s commitment to HCM, to Oracle customers and to its 130,000+ employees. Ellison’s keynote was a highlight at HCM World, with a candid Q&A session that gave attendees an opportunity to interact with him on a personal level.

MIPRO was honored to present alongside the impressive speaker line-up. Managing Partner Jeff Micallef and HCM Practice Director Anne Meyer delivered a session titled “MIPRO’s Enterprise Journey,” which chronicled the company’s transition from Workday to Oracle HCM Cloud. The session was well received, with an interactive Q&A to conclude.

Oracle’s inaugural HCM World was a home run. The strategic sessions drew an executive level HR crowd, and prominent Oracle HCM representatives. The forward-looking content focusing on Modern HR for the multi-generational workforce was well thought out and expertly executed.

A little farther west, Maintenance Management’s biggest event of the year unfolded at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center from February 3-5. Formerly the Maintenance Management Summit, Oracle Value Chain Summit drew more than 1,500 attendees for more than 200 sessions covering every aspect of supply chain management.

Having executed more PeopleSoft Asset Lifecycle Management (ALM) implementations than any other consultancy in North America, MIPRO is recognized as the leader in the PeopleSoft ALM space, and Value Chain Summit gave us an outstanding opportunity to connect with current and past customers, as well as the Oracle team responsible for ALM. From MIPRO’s viewpoint, the highlight of the conference was our 5th annual PeopleSoft Maintenance Management (MM) networking dinner. With a strong showing from PeopleSoft MM customers such as East Kentucky Power Cooperative, Covanta Energy, Cogentrix, and Jeffco Public Schools, as well as several key individuals from the Oracle team, the evening was a great success, providing an informal setting for everyone to share their experiences and enjoy a relaxing evening.

The focus on customer sessions at the show offered a great opportunity to hear first-hand experiences from PeopleSoft users—from the folks at Cogentrix Energy, discussed how they are utilizing Project Costing and Maintenance Management to CBRE highlighting their progress with the Real Estate Management Module. This real-life-scenario approach was beneficial for Oracle’s PeopleSoft ALM development/strategy team and customers alike.

Oracle HCM World and Value Chain Summit definitely started the 2014 conference season off with a lot of positive energy, and MIPRO is looking forward to building on that momentum at Collaborate, OHUG’s Global Conference, Reconnect and Oracle Open World later this year. If you’d like to connect with us regarding our experiences at these great industry events, give us a shout, or follow us on LinkedIn.
